Fence and Gate Installation: What to Expect From Estimate to Finished Job

Aug 27, 2026

Step 1: The Estimate

A good fence estimate starts with a visit. We look at your property lines, slope, existing fencing, gate locations, and anything in the way, like trees, sprinklers, or utilities. You will get a clear written price and a timeline.

Step 2: Choosing Materials

Wood is the most common choice in the Valley: it is affordable and looks good, but the sun dries it out, so it needs to be sealed or stained on a regular schedule. Posts matter most. Solid, well set posts are what keep a fence straight for years.

Step 3: Layout and Posts

We mark the line, call for utility markings where required, and dig post holes at consistent spacing. Posts are set plumb in concrete and allowed to cure before panels go on.

Step 4: Panels, Rails, and Gates

Rails and pickets or panels go up level and tight. Gates get the most wear, so we use heavy duty hinges and latches and check that they swing and close properly. A gate that sags in the first year was usually under built.

Step 5: Cleanup and Walkthrough

We haul away debris, clean up the work area, and walk the fence with you. If anything is not right, we fix it before we leave.

Keeping It Looking Good

Seal or stain wood fencing on a regular schedule, trim plants away from the boards, and check gates and latches once a year. A little upkeep keeps a fence going a long time.
